Welcome to Dog Food Spy (DogFoodSpy.com) a website dedicated to providing dog owners with unbiased information about commercial dog food brands. We have a single mission: to assist dog owners in making well-informed choices regarding the nourishment of their beloved furry companions by providing them with accurate and thorough research on various dog food products.
How DogFoodSpy.com got started!
Our founder Nathan started this site out of sheer curiosity when he adopted Keche, a mix-breed dog from a dog rescue center in the Kibera slums located in Nairobi, Kenya. After encountering a barrage of misinformation about dog nutrition online and in friends’ conversations, the race was on. The challenge of fully understanding incomplete dog food reviews, disorganized guides, and food ingredient lists drove him into research like a bloodhound on the trail.
Keche’s delicate stomach required extensive research and countless visits to various pet stores in search of suitable food. Amidst a sea of brands claiming superiority, determining the truly beneficial one for Keche’s health proved challenging.
Frustrated and out of the need to find a solution for Keche, Nathan took on the role of a covert agent, diligently reaching out to pet food manufacturers via email and persistently pestering them on social media for answers. The exasperation of receiving evasive responses from brands fueled his determination to conduct thorough investigative research, meticulously gathering data from various sources and analyzing it with precision and depth.
That spirit of continued quest for truth and knowledge is what we base our site upon, at DogFoodSpy.com.
We Couldn’t Leave Out the Word ‘Spy’ in Our Name:
As Nathan continued to dig deeper into the dog food industry, he discovered shocking truths about the ingredients used in commercial dog food brands. The more he divulged, the more apparent it became that not all manufacturers prioritize canine health above profits.
It was like being a spy on a mission to uncover secrets and protect our furry companions from harm! That’s when we knew that ‘spy’ had to be an integral part of our site name. It represents our commitment to revealing the truth and ‘spying’ on behalf of dogs who can’t speak for themselves.
Here is the definition of spy from Merriam-Webster’s dictionary as a transitive verb:
“to search or look for intensively “
Our main aim is to deliver the details of what’s in your dog’s food, enabling you to make informed choices. We do the research and dig deep into hidden ingredients, giving you a clear overview of what your pet is consuming.
By doing so, we act as “spies” for you, searching intensively and uncovering information that may otherwise be hidden or difficult to find.
